Longtime Engineering Teachers Earn State Awards
A power couple in Fayette County Public Schools have earned statewide honors from the Kentucky Engineering and Technology Education Association (KETEA). Scott Davis of Southside Technical Center recently accepted the 2024 High School Teacher of the Year award, and Staci Davis of Southern Middle School brought home the Middle School Teacher of the Year plaque. In addition, Staci and Principal Kevin Payne accepted the Middle School Engineering Program of the Year Award for Southern.
The KETEA fall conference was Nov. 4 in Jessamine County. The Davises will also be honored in April at the International Technology and Engineering Education Association conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
The couple has spent their entire careers in FCPS. Staci has taught Engineering at Southern for 24 years. Scott served at Lafayette High School for nine years before moving to Southside, where he was the eighth-grade Pre-Engineering Program teacher until he took over the high school Industrial Technology Program. Both have also been Technology Student Association (TSA) advisers for 2½ decades, and their students have earned a multitude of awards.
