About the School
What We Offer:
Southside trains high school students enrolled in the Fayette, Jessamine, Scott, and Woodford County public school systems. Students spend half of their school day at their home school and the other half at Southside, and they can earn up to four elective credits in each program area per school year. After completing one year, students may enroll in a technical center program for a second year of advanced training.
Programs include Construction Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Electrical (High-Voltage), Electronics (Low-Voltage), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Industrial Technology, Medical Sciences, Pre-Nursing (SRNA), and Welding. Students can also take advanced math and English courses here.
FCPS eighth grade students can also enroll in the Pre-Engineering program to jumpstart their experience in the construction, manufacturing, and robotics industries.
What Makes Us Special:
We are PRIME: Our staff loves having our students in our building. We get to develop the future workforce of our communities and train them in the skills and habits they'll need to be successful moving forward.
Career & Technical Student Organizations: Southside students annually bring home state and national accolades through the SkillsUSA program, and our medical sciences students have leadership training opportunities through the Health Occupational Students of America Association.
Future Opportunities: Students leave Southside prepared to begin immediately in their fields or to pursue additional training through internships, career development, and various postsecondary educational programs. Students also work towards articulated college credit and industry certifications in their field before they complete their training at Southside.
